Geocache Description:

Outamincka

Epic Fail!!

After leaving Melbourne with Australia’s best equipped expedition. Dining table and kitchen sink included. Burke and Wills and King and Gray left the luxuries at Cooper Creek and in the middle of summer raced across the worst half of the country to be the first on foot to the other side. Australia’s first game of Red Rover All Over.

Four months later they found they found Australia’s oldest and most famous cache at the Dig Tree and realized that they had missed the main party by nine hours. Two months later after again missing a relief party Burke and Wills were dead on the banks of the Cooper’s Creek. Only King of the four members of the crossing group was found alive after living with local indigenous people for six months.

The cache is located behind a natural viewing point near the alleged site of Burke's death at Cullyamulla waterhole. The views from the cache are spectactular. Take the time to admire the harsh environment and the wonderful waterhole in front of you.
