valleyone: As I no longer live in Guelph and can't get there to repair this, I'm archiving it. The cache will sit there for awhile until I retrieve it.

Geocache Description:

This cache will introduce you to the southeast corner of the Hanlon Creek Conservation Area in Guelph.

You can find many features in Hanlon Creek that provide evidence of former farms in the region, before it was transformed into subdivisions and park. There are fences, old fields that are now pine plantations, tractor trails, stonepiles, and of course old cedar fences.

This cache is at an obvious cedar fencerow corner right beside the trail. The easiest entry is at the trail off Clairfields Dr. W., between Keys Cresc. and Jean Anderson Cresc. The trail goes past a small constructed wetland and turns either north or south at the main Hanlon Creek spring. Turn north (right) for this cache.

It’s a medium to small container, hidden under the old cedar rails at the fence corner right beside the trail – watch for muggles. You can continue north to find the Meadow Trail cache and the Swamp Trail cache. A Tim’s card for the FTF and a travel bug I picked up recently.

Check the Hanlon Creek trail maps on my blog, Hanlon Creek Journal, Jan. 26, 2010 posting.
