When Hoojar grew up in Thirroul this site was a Service Station. Many times he rode here on his bike to fill up the Jerry Can to mow the lawn after soccer on a Saturday morning. The building next door (that currently houses a real estate agent) was a fish and chip store. Oh, and Thirroul had no traffic lights... How times change!
When the Service Station closed rumors were rife amongst the local primary school children that a McDonald's would soon be built on the site! You can imagine the disapointment when it was discovered that the Local Council would purchase the land and a new library was to be constructed. That was in 1993.
Fast forward sixteen years and Hoojar no longer lives in Thirroul and is certainly no longer interested in eating at a McDonald's. However, a new library now seems like a fantastic idea.

Thirroul Centre Opens Today
The community will get their first look at the new Thirroul District Community Centre and Library today as Wollongong City Council opens the door on the $10.5 million facility for
the first time.
The purpose-built centre includes a new modern library, a multi purpose hall and five community meeting rooms to replace ageing facilities at Thirroul Senior Citizens Centre,
Thirroul Library and Baby Health Centre, Bulli Library and Thirroul Neighbourhood Centre. Council approved the development of this centre in 1993 and purchased the site in 1997.
What better way to celebrate the completion of this building than to hide a cache :-) Special thanks to Tom_Lambert for archiving his nearby cache to make this hide possible.
The first waypoint in this multi will take you to the library itself, where you can pickup a book and find the co-ords for the final WP. The final WP has magnificent views and a seat where you can relax and read your book!
