Geocache Description:

Dear fellow Cachers,
If you can use this cache, please feel free to take it (making sure that any travel bugs. coins, etc. etc. are moved on to new caches of course).  We will archive this cache as soon as it's removed.  Thank you.

Please re-camouflage the cache so it can't be seen! This was Gorualgal country before Europeans settled in the Sydney area. Depending on the source accessed, they have been included as both a clan of the Darug, and of the Guringai peoples (the exact boundaries of these two groups are uncertain), however the Gorualgal‘s language group was Kurringgai. Traditionally they are associated with the areas around Cooroowal (present day Fig Tree Point). Food, water and shelter were abundant. Trade between different peoples and attending each others ceremonies was common. Fish and shell fish (including crabs and lobsters) were their main source of meat. Vegetables and fruits were gathered, and since many were poisonous they needed to be processed. Their lives were structured around traditional laws, religion, customs, and connection to the land. With no immunity, smallpox killed over half the indigenous population living in the Sydney basin within a year of European settlement. The survivors were eventually displaced when their land was cleared for farms and settlements. It is not certain if any of the Gorualgal clan has survived to the present day. The track is adjacent to the cliff in a few spots; so if you bring the Geokiddies, please watch them closely or hold their hands.
