Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Rockafield Cemetery. Please be respectful of the area. DO NOT cache after sunset.

This is the location of the first cache placed by 3Trees on the grounds of Wright State University. 3Trees graciously archived GCTDKA as to allow myself the opportunity to place a new cache in its place. Thank You 3Trees. Permission was granted by the chief of University police and by the head of ground's maintenance. There is parking at the Rockafield house, which is currently only used for special events.

You will be searching for a 50 cal. ammo can that has been very well stocked with goodies, so bring your best swag and enjoy, not only the cache but the area as well. Please zip the zip-lock bags when finished. I've rated this a 2/2 because the tree cover may spin you around a bit, but Geo-sense should kick in when you get close. Also the ammo box latch can sometimes not fully engage properly so make sure it snaps down and locks in place when finished with the cache.

The Rockafield Cemetery on the university campus marks the location of the graves of the original owners of the Wright State University property. Graves date from the mid-1800's.

The WSU School of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program manages the gifts of people who "gave unselfishly of themselves that others might learn." The historic cemetery was expanded, re-landscaped and developed to inter and memorialize the cremated remains of donors whose decision it was to be interred on the campus rather than in a private cemetery or mausoleum.

A brick walkway has been installed in the new portion of the cemetery. Some donors' families and friends have had the names of their loved ones inscribed on individual bricks. Grateful medical school classes have purchased bricks bearing the names of those persons whose remains enabled their medical educations. On Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, tribute is paid to the veterans of the United States Armed Forces with the placement of veteran markers and American flags on each interment site.

Congratulation To ghs FTF!!
