The cache is located a short distance off a trail a few hundred feet from the parking area. Park at N42 26.252 W074 27.406(Mid level parking area). The trail may be wet if there has been lots of rain. There is fairly heavy tree cover and I was getting accuracy of about 25 feet with the coords. Permit MK#2.
The cache is a lock and lock container. It contains items suitable for children to trade. It contains a certificate for the FTF. There is also a camera. If you wish, take a picture of your self or something that you have with you. When the camera is full I will post the pictures. Louie Cardinal the travel bug has been placed in the cache. A great place for kids. There is a playground, restrooms, picnic tables and a nice view from the overlook near the parking area. A swimming pool is nearby. There are also the nature trails and other trails including one to a great view of Mine Kill Falls. There is an entry fee($3 in 2011) during the summer season. If you park at the office or contact station, there is no fee. There is also the NYS Power Authority's Visitor's Center just a mile up the road. They have nice displays and there is no charge.
This cache is part of the Friends of Minekill State Park Challenge. The first seven to log the 12 caches at three local parks will receive a travel bug trackable tag. Log sheets and instructions are available at the Minekill State Park Office. Congratulations to A&WCachers for the first to complete the challenge.
