Downtown/Main Street USA: Roanoke, AL Traditional Cache
kb10bo: I hate to do it, but it looks like I'm goint to have to archive this one. I moved the cache to a new location a couple of weeks ago, but I did it on a cloudy, rainy day and I wasn't happy with the coordinates. So I went back a couple of days ago to mark a better set and the cache was already missing. That's not a good sign! Hopefully I can come up with another plan and replace it real soon. Thanks to everyone that found it. Happy caching!!!!

Just for those days when you don't want to get muddy, but still want to go caching.......this one is for you!
This cache is located on the main street in downtown Roanoke, AL.
The city of Roanoke was established in 1835. It is the biggest city in Randolph County, but it is not the county seat. It is famous for the Ella Smith Indestructible Doll and more recently, in December of 1994, one of its sons, Joe Edwards, Jr., was selected by NASA as an astronaut.
You will find the cache, a small camouflaged lock n lock type container, at "The Randolph County Museum". It's housed in the old Post Office building and has been open since 2000. Unless you live in the area you might just pass it by since they still don't have a sign yet. It's a "work in progress", but definitely well worth visiting. They have lots of really neat things to see. Right now they're only open on Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (Central time). Admission is free, but all donations are graciously accepted.
Happy caching!!!!
Congratulations to Martin, from Franklin, GA for being FTF!!!!
