Sly2’s moving a little further from home for this cache, ideal for walkers, bikers and horse riders as it’s along a restricted byway. Older maps may show the route as a byway open to all traffic, but it’s been designated a restricted byway for a year or so now, so no motor vehicles please: just feet, pedals, hooves and horse-drawn wheels.
The track is well defined but pretty rough in places so not great for pushchairs. It’s also uphill almost all the way from Nailsworth, but off-roaders should like the descent on the way back.
You have a choice of routes: if you go through the fields there may be farm animals in them (and deer), and the track is bordered by fields with livestock in, so please keep dogs on a lead.
The co-ordinates are for a road gate close to the cache (gps cover can be a bit hit-and-miss due to the trees around). From there head for the sixth tree on the right.
From Nailsworth, the route passes several of Sly2’s caches and then heads out towards Nympsfield - a nice cycle ride, especially if you stop for lunch at the Rose & Crown.
The cache is in a small plastic container with camo tape.
