Veterans Park is a large park in the western part of Tonawanda, close to the Niagara River. There are two large and three small picnic shelters to rent. All shelters have electrical outlets and grills. A permit is required from the city to use the shelters.
There are several pieces of playground equipment for the kiddies to play on. Restrooms are conveniently located in the center of the park. Nearby are three baseball fields. The uses of horseshoes and volleyballl nets are available also.
In 2003, a memorial was erected honoring veterans of all branches of the military from the City of Tonawanda. The veterans memorial consists of two granite slabs, each divided into three sections. On the front, both sides are dedicated to the US Army. The western side of the rear is for the US Navy, and the eastern side is dedicated to the Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines.
I hope you enjoy my first ever cache hidden(along with the help of the rest of Team Trailblazers). Be sure and check out our 2nd cache("Disney Pins") in North Tonawanda. We as a team plan on hiding several more in the near future. You are looking for a medium Lock 'n Lock Sterlite container. We tried to keep the cache as "kid friendly" as possible. There were a few muggles in the area when we hid the cache so be on the lookout although this isn't the busiest area of the park. I'd stick to searching from "dawn to dusk". Contents of the cache include all Disney items as I am a Disney fanatic. If possible try to stick with the theme and trade something Disney. If you can't, any trade is of course still welcome. There are 4 different FTF prizes(all Disney pins). Please only take one so someone else can also get a "treasure" and return the cache exactly as found.
