Geocache Description:

Large numbers of bald eagles spend the winter months in the area of the Mississippi between just south of the open water at Alma to north towards Pepin. They feed on fish in the open waters where the Chippewa River flows into the Mississippi River. They can be spotted sitting on the edge of the ice, in the trees along the riverbanks, or gliding above the water or soaring among the bluffs. While their large numbers make them easier to spot in winter months, they can be found year-round, as many are permanent residents in the area. Depending on when you come, you may find it very easy to find an eagle to take a photo of, or you may find it more difficult. However, there are eagles here year round, and if you look long enough, you will see eagles here, and at many other locations along the Great River Road.
