Geocache Description:

The cache is located in a small island called "Hrisey". Its about 30 km drive from Akureyri and you need to take the ferry "Saevar" from Arskogsstrond (see parking point), its costs around 5€ (to the island and back) to sail.

Hrisey is well worth the visit. The ferry will bring you to the small village there, the island has around 180 inhabitants. The cache lies just a few hundred meters from the village. Most people drive around on super old tractors. The locals harvest blue shells in the waters close to the island, and its possible to buy it in the local restaurant-cafe "Brekkan" search for item called "blaskel", you can also buy food in store "Eyjabudin" if you need something to eat. On this island you will find the biggest tern (Icelandic name: Kria) colony in Iceland. If you get good weather you can hike north to the lighthouse or visit the swimmingpool and relax. Its also possible to go to the lighthouse on a tractor, see tourist information (its in a small hut in the harbour area).
