Favorite fishing spots are most of the time held in top secret
and sometimes never ever shared. With this series of Geocaches, I
am going to share many of my favorite onshore fishing spots with
you. These are all locations along waterways that I have spent many
hours fishing on. All of these spots bring back wonderful childhood
memories of biking to the park and fishing until (sometimes past)
supper time. Some of the spots still produce excellent off-shore
fishing opportunities so you may just want to bring along your
pole. I will also share what kinds of fish you might expect to
cache (I mean catch!) at these locations. I will leave it up to you
to choose the bait or lure! Can't share every secret....
-------------------------
You will rarely see an empty shoreline here at the Neenah dam
(which may cause you some heartburn while geocaching here!) We used
to fish here for hours and hours catching all sorts of different
fish including perch, sunfish, walleye, and of course carp. I
remember when we used to get down below the bridge (not as easy now
with the hospital & bridge reconstruction over the years) and
fish right bellow the spillway and walk in the water when it was
shallow. Enjoy the view, and perhaps the company of an on-shore
fisherman or 2.
Fish you may catch here include:
- Pumpkinseed (sunfish) & Bluegill
- Perch
- Rock bass
- Walleye
- Sheepshead
- Carp
Please bring a pen to log your find. This is also a city park
with plenty of parking in the lot and some picnic tables &
benches if you are looking for a nice place to eat your lunch.
Please return the cache exactly as you found it so others will
enjoy the challenge and so the muggles don't take it.
Winter Friendliness Rating: Findable in all
