This is a roughly two to three mile figure of eight circular walk around some of Evesham’s main points of interests picking up clues on the way to work out the co-ordinates for the cache placed along the riverside walk. The co-ordinates above are for the car parking and starting point.
DUE TO MUCH NEEDED RESTORATION TO THE BELL TOWER,IT IS NOW CORDONED OFF FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. I HAVE THEREFORE PROVIDED THE ANSWER TO QUESTION THREE BELOW UNTIL IT CAN BE ACCESSED AGAIN.
THE ANSWER TO QUESTION THREE IS 1951,MEANING C=5.
First of all, head towards the entrance of the car park to the Almonry museum.
1). What year’s were the stocks removed from the Town Hall jail? 19A0's
Next, go through the churchyard gate and take the left diagonal footpath until you reach an archway with bollards placed underneath.
2). What is the date mentioned on the plaque under the archway? 11B0
Follow the footpath between the two churches until you get to the Bell Tower.
3). What year was the Bell Tower restored? 19C1
Head diagonally along the middle footpath to the Simon de Montfort memorial stone.
4). What year did Simon de Montfort die? 12D5
Next, head around to the front of the war memorial, which is behind you as you face the memorial stone.
5). What year’s, according to the main plaque in the middle are signifying remembrance? 191E-1920
As you face the war memorial, go to your right and follow the footpath up and into the Riverside Shopping Centre car park.
6). Looking high up to your left, what year was the shopping centre built? 198F
Continue along and follow the footpath under the arch and turn left onto the pedestrianised Bridge Street. Walk on up to the end of the street passing the black and white Nat West Round House.
7). Diagonally to your left is the Town Hall, what year was the barometer and thermometer presented by the Rev.George Head? 188G
Enter the market square and look up at the plaque on the black and white building the Round House.
8). What century is the Round House building from? 1Hth Century
Now a bit of a longer walk to the final cache clue. Turn around from the Round House and head diagonally right across the market square entering Vine Street. Continue down Vine Street heading back to the Almonry museum. Pass the museum on your left and follow the Abbey Road all the way to the end, and when you get there, there is a plaque on the bridge.
9). In what year was the bridge presented? 192J
Now you have all the relevant clues to work out the co-ordinates for the cache location.
N 52 (H-C,G-A) (A+B,E+B,F-D)
W 001 (J-B,H+A) (F-H,D-B,C-H)
Go down the steps alongside the bridge and cross underneath and follow the riverside walk to the cache.PLEASE BE CAREFUL,THIS CAN BE QUITE BUSY WITH MUGGLES,ESPECIALLY AT WEEKENDS.ALSO BEWARE OF FISHERMEN MUGGLES CLOSE BY AT ALL TIMES BUT ESPECIALLY WHEN THE NATIONAL FISHING EVENT IS ON IN AUGUST.
When you have found the cache retrace your steps about two to three hundred yards and walk on up the small lane which vehicles use as well,(please take care as this is a small lane and you need to be wary of cars coming down towards you). About a quarter of a mile up this lane, you will arrive back to your starting place at the car park.
Congratulations to omis49 ftf.
