Geocache Description:


This is a recent bridge over the canal, No 10A. Under the arch on the far wall it states :-

"Scottish Office Industry Department"
"Gogar Station Road Bridge"
"1995"

Just to confuse issues, the East Hermiston Bridge -or- Union Canal Bridge No 10, (200m East of current position) is shown on the OS 1:10000 raster map as Gogar Station Road.  But, since 1995 that road leads to nowhere as it was cut off by the M8 western approach motorway.

An ideal parking spot if you want to do all of the Hermiston Union Canal caches : On street parking at Cultins Road N55 55.299 W003 18.155.

The above cache co-ordinates is for Waypoint 1.   At the East side of the bridge there is a metal fence to guide people in and out of the canal tow path to the main road.   Verticals are painted black and horizontals are painted white.

Q1 : With regard to the above. How many black painted metal posts are set in the ground. (remember to count all post including those for the gate) = AB
Calculate CD = AB x 4
Q2 : With regard to answer for Q1. How many are round posts = E.

The cache is a small 140 ml container within a 'container'.  The cache can be found at N 55 55.2AD W003 18.9(DE-C).   Please do not refer to the container in your log notes, (thanks).

Puzzle had to be changed (Jan 2010) to fit re-located cache after it was muggled.
