ManoTrack Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

BrianDiane: This one's had a good long run, but the wheels of progress at GZ have ground it up and spit it out. Many thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

Inspired by a message from cron that he and his family really enjoyed the caching-induced reasons for visiting Manotick, I’ve created this one with the idea of inciting folks to spend a delightful hour or so scurrying around a particular portion of our delightful village. Kids’ll love it!

Coupled with sagelily’s Manotick Steeplechase (GCZ0F5) and Pins & Needles (GC1CK80), and followed by a snack or meal at one of the growing number of great Manotick eateries, this should make for a delightful morning or afternoon outing. The total distance you’ll walk from parking lot, around the waypoints to the cache and back to the parking lot is a bit over 1 km.

NOTE: As of May 2013 there are TWO cache containers at GZ. The original large cache container had previously gone missing, but magically reappeared, with the cache still securely attached. Had made a replacement cache in a different container within a meter of the original. We have left both cache containers and caches in place to double the chances of success of seekers. Find either one and sign either log, or sign both for extra bragging rights.

The key to this cache is walking in as straight a line as possible from turn to turn, and not deviating from the directions given. If a bathroom or other break is called for, I’d strongly suggest you turn off your GPSr until you return to the point where you stopped.

Standing at the posted coordinates, you will see that two, large square posts are perfectly lined up. Follow that line for 95 meters.

Once there, identify the single name of the largest nearby tree and call the number of letters in that name A. Make a 90 degree turn and go straight for 132 meters.

Look around for a sign that contains not much more than a large-sized number. Call that number BC, and head straight to and beyond it for a total of 94 meters.

Here you should be able to see another sign that says “_______ School.” Call the number of letters in the missing word D.

Looking a bit further to the right of that sign, you’ll see in the distance a small beige flat-roofed hut. Walk towards it and continue past it in a straight line for a total of 326 meters (it’s probably a good idea to stop a this point anyway!).

In the distance you’ll see three lone spruce trees in a row. Start walking towards the one on the left and continue along that same line for a total of 203 meters (again, stopping at this point is likely a good idea!).

Now look for the furthest left of the tall baseball field lights and head there, as always, in a straight line, for 91 meters.

Now you need to walk towards the midpoint of the furthest soccer goal on the closest soccer field. Stop after going only 66 meters AND DON’T MOVE.

Gaze upon the screen of your GPSr and note the magic number that appears before you. Call it EF.
