Named for the white marking on his forehead, Single G. was the country's greatest side-wheeler and holder of many world records in harness racing. He was foaled in 1910, from sire Anderson Wilkes and dam Little Gyp.
Purchased at auction in 1912 by William B. Barefoot of Cambridge City, Indiana and H.S. Beard for $275, "the wonder horse" started in 434 heats and won 262, earning $121,125. He "officially" won 98 races, setting an all-time record
In 1922 he actually won his 99th race at Dade Park in Evansville. The race was postponed for almost a week because of heavy rains. Eventually it was held and Single G. won. However it was never entered into the record books.
Single G. was kept from racing for several weeks and nearly died when a miscreant gave him an apple that had been doped with poison. Had this not happened, he undoubtedly would have won over 100 races.
He was retired at seventeen and sired 81 performers with Standard records. He died in 1940.
