Forgot your toothbrush? Flashlight? Bug repellent? Perhaps you thought you had everything, but find yourself in sudden and urgent need of something else, like spare batteries, first aid items, or something to repair your rain tarp with? Or perhaps you have everything you need, but nothing to manage a rained-in day in the tent? There's a deck of cards for that emergency! Or the rain shredded your map? Got you covered there too!
Take a printout of this inventory list so you know what you might find. If you borrowed the flashlight, and happen to be going back the way you came, feel free to leave it for the next visitor. If you take something for keeps, please email me when you get home, so I know what to restock. And feel free to leave your extra batteries for someone else if you pass this way on your way home. If you added to it, let me know so I can add it to the inventory list below. (Please do not use this as a dumping place for expended batteries, however, as someone may rely on the utility value they might seem to offer.)

Helpful Hints: The terrain rating is 5 because it can only be accessed by boat, and a rating of 5 connotes special equipment required. The difficulty rating is 4 because I anticipated that boat to be a canoe! The nearest public access point is Three Legged Lake, about 10 kilometers, 2 portages, and 3-4 hours away. The best route can be discerned pretty easily from the Massassauga Provincial Park map ($10.00 at Oastler Lake Park Office), and the cache is named after the nearest portage marking on that map. The two caches (P-100-J and P-235-N) can both be gotten in a single dawn to dusk day, but be prepared with lunches, snack foods, water, sunscreen, and bugspray!
If you are very strong and able bodied, I encourage you to hit up the two Earthcaches in the area as well (Controversy over Potholes, and Things Just Didn't Pan Out). If you are less able bodied, not very experienced with self-propelled watercraft, or simply enjoy camping, you might want to consider making this an overnight adventure. Campsites with access point parking permits (and boat rentals) can be obtained through the Oastler Lake Park Office, or online through the Algonquin Park website.
