I have been meaning to place a cache in Fagan Park for years. I’ve just been a bit too lazy until now. This is the first of many that are currently in the works for Fagan Park.
An easy 2 stage multi cache in Carrs bush, a remnant of a Sydney Turpentine Forest, located in the picturesque Fagan Park. Please bring your family, a picnic lunch and your push bikes and several hours as the park is well worth a look around.
***PLEASE NOTE*** There is no need to trample any bush whilst attempting this cache. The Cache is hidden off the track, however you will not need to trample any native bush to get to it.
The Carrs Bush area of Fagan Park contains a highly significant remnant of Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest (STIF), which is a threatened forest community. This remnant is one of the best remaining examples in the Sydney area.
There are short walking trails through Carrs Bush – interpretive signs explain the conservation value and the important features of the endangered Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest and the fauna species that use this habitat – including the long nosed bandicoot.
The man-made dams are home to many water birds which can be seen in the water or perched in surrounding trees.
At the given co-ords you will find Sydney Turpentine and an information board explaining him and the surrounding bush, an interesting read if you have the time.
Whilst here you will need to get the year of Birth and the year of death of Barbara Cush, a local Bush Care Volunteer, and do some simple maths to get the final way point
