Back during my teenage years this was once a beautiful picnic park
area of the Beaver Mountain Provincial Park. Unfortunately, due to
cutbacks this area was closed off and moved to the main area that
was once the entrance to the campground.
Gone are the roads and nice grassy areas where families had
their lunches and suppers and all that remains are the trees
standing in the field and the gate that closes off the once driven
road. You can still see evidence of the road way and the road gated
ahead sign still remains as a reminder of what this area was.
When this park was not used by picnics; this was our
battlefield. As a group we would peddle up this mountain and divide
the park into teams and proceed to pound each other with apples
until it was dark or could not stand the pain any longer. The cache
location would most likely have been a base camp.
Coming back to this location brings back alot of memories and is
fitting for my new series being placed in Antigonish
NOTE: Please park at the gate and walk in.
