Mallard Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a Lock & Lock box. The cache is located in Merrill Creek Reservoir. Merrill Creek Reservoir is a beautiful and quiet place so please enjoy it. Take in the view from the top of the main dam. This will be a great view in the fall.

“Mallard” is the final cache in a series intended to remind us of nature’s diversity. There are a total of 6 caches in this series. The six are: Black Bear (GC1V9M7), White-Tailed Deer (GC1VE6H), Beaver (GC1VT13), Rattlesnake (GC1W4ET), Coyote (GC1WPJ3), and Mallard. Each cache is hidden in a location favored by the animal. So it is no wonder why Mallard is located here. Each cache in the series has cards containing a little information about the subject animal. Don’t forget to take an information card with you.

The cache is stocked with a variety of trade items. This is not a themed cache so feel free to trade any item that you wish.

Before you tell me, let me say - I know that GZ is not exactly where you expect to find a Mallard, or any water bird, but I hid it there for two reasons. The shoreline is a fragile area and so I thought it best to stay away from it and second, the shoreline is highly visible to fishing muggles. And this place sees a lot of fisher-persons.

I thought I’d wrap up the series by including “First to Find” and “Second to Find” prizes. Each prize is a coin bearing the animal’s image on one side; and the cache name on the other.
