Anyone who drives up Glen Prosen cannot fail to be charmed by the pretty kirk in Glenprosen Village.
The present church, paid for by the inhabitants of the Glen was built in 1802 continued 400 years of worship in the glen. A simple white washed church, its most striking feature is the rare slated cross embedded into the porch.
The minister of Prosen was also responsible for services at Clova Kirk and hence the popular "Ministers walk" a 4 mile trek leading over the hills starts from here (the manse is behind the kirk) The minister would make a weekly return journey to Clova to conduct a service there. Whether he walked or drove his horse and cart over is under some debate but it must have been a pretty miserable journey no matter how he crossed the ridge between the two glens in bad weather..
To find the cache you will need to find this gravestone in the kirkyard (close to the porch) and answer a few questions. It's well worth spending a while admiring the church inside and out while you are here
