This is the third in a series of caches which form a circular walk of approximately 3¾ miles. Inside the cache you will find coordinates for the High Ongar Bonus.
The cache is a large container with an assortment of swops and will accept large travel bugs and Geocoins.
The route covers official footpaths - through mainly farmland, however an Ordnance Survey or TOPO map will be useful as some of the sign posts have vanished. The whole walk can be completed in around 1½ hours and if you feel adventurous you can extend the walk from the bonus cache to include Church Micro 427: Stondon Massey (GC1KDWF). And if you feel really adventurous and still fit you can get to the Ongar Castle cache (GC1AD4G) from the same parking area (follow the foot path WEST from Mill Lane, about 100 yards north of the parking area))
Some of the locations were difficult to pinpoint a definite GPS signal - so the coordinates might be slightly astray. However, the cache hides are all on, or just off the official footpaths and with the clues should be relatively easy to find.
You will find some of the footpaths go directly across open fields and if there has been recent rain your boots WILL GET VERY HEAVY with the mud. (But that’s good for all you fitness fanatics). If the ground is hard the paths appear to crack with quite deep holes so look after the little geocachers so that they don’t disappear down any of them.
This is my second series of caches and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did locating them. I got a lot of constructive feedback from my Herongate Series and I am very eager to get more from this series as well (both positive and negative).
Parking
There is parking is in Mill Lane (coordinates - N 51° 42.445 E 000°15.935). The start of your journey for this series is a public footpath commencing directly EAST from the parking area.
