This cache provides you with another opportunity to explore the history and beauty of the Ashcroft region. You are looking for a 1 Litre Camo'd Lock & Lock placed close to a ranch that has been a significant part of the growth and interest in the Ashcroft region. The cache is available 24/7. You do not have to go on private property, however the owners of the adjacent land were asked permission for this placement.
Local historic records show this was originally a cattle ranch owned by James Barnes in the early 1900's and later purchased by Sidney Leslie. Due to unknown reasons, the cattle operation was sold in the 1950's and eventually converted into a guest ranch. However, further research indicates the Ranch's history goes back even further to 1864 when water rights for this location were first registered.
The ranch is now owned and has been operated by the Rowe family for over 30 years as the Sundance Guest Ranch. Stan and Vicki Rowe and their three children, Cynthia, James, and Talesyn purchased it and have been working the ranch since 1978. Stan and Vicki have both since retired turning over the daily operation and management of this magnificent piece of history to their children and grandchildren.
While in this area you have an opportunity explore the many other other caches nearby that depict the history of the majestic Ashcroft area. No matter what time of day you come to log this cache, you will be treated to one of the many splendors of the Interior of British Columbia.
