Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. Geocache Description:

Hike to the summit of Mt Parke

Mt Parke Park offers the highest viewpoint on Mayne island (263m, 863 feet). From the top of the dramatic cliff you will have a spectacular view of the Village Bay harbour, The southern side of Mayne Island, and several of the other gulf islands.

From the Montrose road parking lot there are trails that roam the park area and then beyond to the summit of the mountain. The assent should take an hour or more depending on your fitness level. There is a cheater route that takes you to within 15 minutes of the top using the private gravel access; Mt Parke Rd and further to the gated radio tower access road. However, the Mt Parke road appears to be restricted to residents. The open-access trail route is longer, but much more scenic.

The regional park website is here: (visit link)
A trail map of the park is available: (visit link)

The cache is a 500ml screw-top ziplock storage container.
