This cache is located within a cemetery so please be respectful of the area. There is no need to walk across any graves. Enjoy this beautiful area.
Right on the border between Putnam and Marion township lies the Gilkes Cemetery. The original incorporation date was 17 March 1851. This is the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of section 5 of Putnam Township. The cache is a smaller sized Tupperware taped over for better camo.
The land was purchased from the Gilkes family and thus the name. This cemetery is very nicely maintained. Many of the residents of Marion Township are buried at this site including a number of people of English ancestry.
