Geocache Description:

Skookum Lake Trek and Camp.

Meet at my place in Molalla (236 S Cole) at 6:00 AM to carpool/caravan up to the trailhead. Stragglers contact me for specific instructions if needed. Cel is 971-219-9 8 7 7

Pack your gear and prepare to hike into remote Skookum Lake for an overnight hunt for the unknown. Hike in via Baty trail is around three miles. Enough room in the campground for tents. There is a picnic table and firepit. I placed a cache nearby that as of 8-16-09 has not been found! Day trippers are okay, so come and hike in with us!

We will meet at the Lost Meadow trail head Saturday morning at 7:00 AM to hike in over the Baty Butte trail, my cache GC1VHDV is located at the trail head. I will mark the Baty Butte trail from the trail head to the junction with Skookum trail with red and white striped flagging tape so that any stragglers can find their way.

Campers are also welcome to hike in over the top of Thunder Mountain. Here is a link to the Forest Service Trail Listing

Skookum is the Chinook word for Big Foot and the locale of the event has had several reports of Big Foot activity over the years. We will be searching for evidence of Skookum while in the area, so bring your search gear such as: wildlife camera, night vision gear, movie camera, camera, etc. I have tenatively invited several big foot enthusiasts to come along.

The area is also home to about a million mosquitos so bring your deet and netting. I have five head nets that I will be providing as door prizes.

Bring your fishing gear, the lake is home to some very hungry trout. While on my scouting expedition there were several trout jumps and I saw a pan-sized beauty while out on a log.

We will do a side hike to the top of nearby Thunder Mountain if there are any takers (my cache there has yet to be found).

Bookmark this cache as I will be posting further details, links, and the meñu as time goes on. Email me, I have a detailed topgraphic map of the area in pdf format that I can send you.

Bring your own ingredients and I will combine them and we will eat in style.
Saturday night dinner will consist of Barf: ground beef, potatoes, various vegatables and seasonings all cooked artfully together and slopped into your tray will love.
Sunday breakfast will be more barf: Sausage, bacon, eggs (I will be providing powdered eggs that are the equivalent of 32 eggs), potatoes, onions, peppers, etc., cooked and served as above.
Tip: Precook your meat and freeze it ahead of time; cooking and freezing will delay the spoilage process.
