Geocache Description:

What once was, is no longer.

The container is a 35mm film canister taped with green duct tape. Log only, please bring your own writing instrument.

I used to work for a farmer in this area when I was in high school and remember hauling grain to the local elevator.

A friend of mine grew up in this area and was on the 1956 state basketball tournament team.

The town of St. Marys, on the North Western railway in the north central portion of Miner County, was surveyed and platted October 6, 1886, by A. K. Gault for the Western Town Lot Company. Dr. L. Gotheif was the first inhabitant. After the World War the name of the town was changed to “Argonne," in memory of the battle in which American troops took such an important part. Its importance chiefly was that of a shipping center. A consolidated school was erected in 1920 and was destroyed by fire in 1933, but was rebuilt the same year. In 1926 several buildings were wrecked by a tornado.

The rating system I used was from the "Geocache Rating System" and seems to be a little more harsh of a rating than I think it is. You can drive up within 25 yards of the hide but will have to walk through some tall grass. (Knee high at the time I hid it)
