Geocache Description:

Congrats to pheasant seeker for the FTF

Nice short hike in Black Elk Neihardt Park.

Take some time to enjoy the hidden jewel that is Black Elk-Neihardt Park. Located on the highest point Blair, Nebraska, this park is a tribute to Black Elk an Oglala Lakota and John G. Neihardt, Nebraska's Poet Laureate. Neihardt is the author of Black Elk Speaks which he wrote after a series of interviews with Black Elk in 1931. The park features the Tower of the Four Winds, Pedestal Mosaics, an Interpretive Garden and several walking trails. There is a playground for the kids, plenty of places to picnic and excellent sledding in the winter. There is birding opportunities and native trees and grasses throughout the park also. Go to www.benpark.org for more details.

The cache is approximately 0.4 miles from the parking lot but could be farther depending on the trail chosen. While there, you can also find the Nebraska Washington County 4H cache (GCKWD7). Most of the trail I would rate a 2 although the last 20 feet is a little steeper. The cache should be easy to find once at ground zero. Cache is small with log and room for a few small items. Hope you enjoy.
