Geocache Description:

There is a safe parking pullout next to the dam. Cross a public access bridge next to Seeger Dam and walk along a slightly inclining deer path that runs next to the shore of Nicasio Reservoir.

Locals might call this area the damned dam because it has blocked valuable spawning areas for endangered species of salmon and steelhead while in the end, the water from the reservoir is rarely used by the district. That it was in fact named for General Manager and Chief Engineer, William R Seeger (UC Berkeley ’35), could make an entry in the Dance Palace’s annual Trivia Bee. This earth structure dams Nicasio Creek and is owned by the Marin Municipal Water District. It was created in 1961 to fill Nicasio Reservoir, which covers 845 acres for a reservoir capacity of 22,400 acre-feet. It only took the district 32 years to dedicate the dam by which time Seeger had been dead for 19 years.

Due to some fishermen, this is a good place to practice CITO.
