This series of caches was set to complement the Ding Dong it's in The Bell (GC1WWAF) event held in Castle Hedingham on 27 September 2009. Superbly organised by SPO and Mum, this event was the first (hopefully of many) held in the Hedingham/Halstead area. It is a circular walk of about 4 miles taking in some of the beautiful countryside around Castle Hedingham. During the walk it is necessary to cross a couple of roads so please be careful.
Each cache contains clues needed to find the bonus cache and a badge for the FTF. One of the caches contains a very special FTF prize as well!
You are looking for a micro. Don't forget to get the bonus clues!
From here the bonus is about half a mile away. You could take the short but uninspiring walk along Nunnery St or you could take in the nearby De Vere Trails if you have not done them already.
A bit about the meadow:
Formally used for arable production, this site has been restored to its original use as a hay meadow. It will be managed by traditional methods to enhance its landscape and wildlife interest. This includes minimal use of fertilizer and herbicides together with careful timing of the annual hay cut and control of livestock grazing. The meadow floods most winters, bringing nutrients onto the land. A number of cricket bat willows have been established on it as they are well suited to the high water table in the area.
