Geocache Description:

Update 2022 Pt 2: Well, a creep who has a free Geocaching username came and took the trackable. He stole it, actually. No logs for any other caches, just a message that he took the trackable. I reported him. I'm super bummed as I signed up to get that trackable from Jack Links. I don't want to make this cache a premium one, but there are so many not-nice folks around lately. Update 2022: Jack Links trackable is now in the cache....COME GET IT! Congrats to tompather and Cindermouse for the FTF in the dark of night and sorry that the pen wasn't in there for ya! Coords seem fine. Lot of trees were lost during that horrible storm in July '12, so I'm sure the GPS won't bounce as much as it used to. By last check, the coordinates were still really close. No need to go onto the property! The hint should help out. Beware the pooch in the house adjacent to this location! Just kidding - she'll be inside 90% of the time. Her name's Dakota and she's a yellow lab. She had both of her knees reconstructed and she's just getting back to her normal fun self, so I'm placing my first cache in honor of her. Medium sized container. I'm sure many of you are familiar with this path - it can take you quite a ways from here! Good luck, have fun and if you see Kota, take a pic and post it! UPDATE 2012: Poor Kota's gotten diabetes and has gone blind. It's sad. If you see her, she'll most likely get spooked. We don't let her wander out there alone anymore so sightings will be rare. If you're inclined to this sort of thing, say a little prayer for our pooch. She's been through a lot. There's a little brown Tabby cat named Smokey who lives next door and is Kota's friend. He likes to hang around outside. He's the best. Watch out for him and keep him safe (he does have claws). UPDATE: MAY '13: Seeing a few "I don't really like caches this close to properties" lately. Why that's important to post is really beyond me, but whatever. (Considering the owner loves the cache and it's named for her dog, her opinion's the only one that matters!) UPDATE: APRIL '14: It makes me so sad to say that our poor Kota dog has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. There's a younger, hound-ish pooch living there now, Hunter. If you see him, congrats! Smokey's still prancing around the area of the cache. He's got claws, so pet at your own risk! (He's a sweetheart, though.) Additionally: This area got demolished during a storm last summer. What looks close to property now, had at least 10 feet of treeline between where the cache is now and the property line. Over 200 trees were lost in the area behind this house and the neighbors. I'm not exaggerating. If the coordinates seem a little wonky, it's because they were taken from 20 different readings at different times and this reading is the one that came up the most. Unfortunately, this area is still heavily wooded, when there's tree cover, your GPS will bounce, when there's no tree cover, it won't!
