Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park is located along the Adams
River, home of the famous Adams River salmon run. It is a great
place to visit any time of the year, but particularly in early
October during the return of the Adams River sockeye salmon. These
amazing fish fight all odds to find their way back from the Pacific
Ocean to the stream of their birth. Their life cycle started here
four years earlier and will end here shortly after they spawn,
producing the offspring that will carry on the cycle.
Roderick Haig-Brown, for whom this park is named, was a
magistrate, writer, avid angler and above all he was a man
dedicated to conservation in British Columbia. The park was
established in 1977.
There are 25 kilometers of trails within the park with access to
viewpoints along the river to view the spawning salmon. Some trails
are suitable for cross country skiing and snow shoeing in season.
Biking is permitted and with care, especially near the river, the
park is children friendly and educational.
It truly is a great place to visit, relax and enjoy Mother
Nature at her very best.
In this cache, you'll find some ProjectBlueSky geocoins for the
first finders. Please only take one... if you have one from another
cache, please leave them for other people. There are also some
other pins and swag from BC Parks, BCGA and Project Blue Sky.
