Come and help us celebrate Columbus Days! (visit link)

Columbus, KS will be celebrating its 40th Columbus Day Festival October 9-11. Friday night will consist of a free bean feed and outhouse races, a Gospel concert, smoked meat dinner, and a hot-air balloon glow.

Saturday will be the big festival downtown. There will be hot-air balloon races (weather permitting), 5K run, a parade, numerous free entertainments, car & motorcycle show, poker run, appearance by former KC Chiefs, antique tractor show, children’s corner, inflatables, photo contest, clay shoot, and NEW this year - geo-caching!

Plans are underway to have approximately 15-20 caches hidden around the town. A few will be virtuals, but most will be medium to large containers. Several of them will contain first-to-find prizes including cook books, Chamber dollars, Columbus souvenirs, etc. There will also be a drawing at the end of the day for prizes drawn from all sheets turned back in with the correct answers to each location.

A complete list of coordinates will be available on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Chamber of Commerce booth located in the intersection of Kansas and Maple Streets, downtown Columbus. Coordinates WILL NOT be posted on the internet.
