Geocache Description:

This two stage multi cache is hidden along the Cedar River Trail, which follows the grade of the Pacific Coast Railroad and the Milwaukee Road. At the posted coordinates, you will need to study the details of this bridge to determine the final coordinates to find this cache. The final is a .50 cal ammo can.

This Platt Truss bridge was built by the Milwaukee Road as part of its Pacific Coast expansion.

N47 24.ABC
W 122 02. DEF

Count the number of vertical beams that form both of the sides. This will equal C. AB is equal to the number of angled (not vertical) beams that form both of the sides, added to C.

The number of Arches that support each end of the bridge is equal to D and F. (Do not sum these numbers) (you will need to go down below the bridge to view these.) E is equal to 1/2 of the number of angled sections (count ALL angled sections, including ones that form an X).

Also, if you look down at the base of the Hwy 169 bridge from waypoint one, you can see the footings of the Pacific Coast Railroad bridge, which crossed the Cedar on a separate bridge, as the Pacific Coast line leaves the Milwaukee at Maple Valley and heads to Black Diamond and Franklin.
