To find the letterbox, you will first need to go to the posted
coordinates, which is on the edge of Lake Wissota. While there,
enjoy the great view of the Lake.
Once at the posted coordinates, go up the stairs and count the
number of steps from the level of the lake, to the level of the
parking lot. You will need this number later.
Next proceed to the trail head, across the road, starting at:
44.58.490
91.18.767
Follow the horse trail north as it meanders thru the woods until
you have gone .16 miles as the bird flies. You will know you are at
the right spot when you notice that you have gone past prairie on
your right side and a woods on the left. To further confirm that
you did it right, you might notice that your west coordinate is the
same as it was on the trail head despite all of your meanders, and
that your north coordinate has a "25" as the last 2 digits.
Almost done now. Do you remember how many steps you climbed up from
the lakeside? Walk that many paces to the northwest (315 degrees).
Ok, good, now look at the big pine tree that you are at, and dig
the cache out of the crotch of the tree. You did it!!!
As suggested by the Wisconsin Geocaching Association for caches
placed on WDNR managed land, I've included the following
information. WDNR Geocache Notification Form 2500-118 has been
submitted to and approved by Scott Erickson of the Wisconsin DNR,
for this cache. Please note that any geocache placed on Wisconsin
Department of Natural Resouce managed lands requires permission by
means of this notification form. If you intend to place a cache on
WDNR managed lands, please print out a paper copy of the
notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it
to the respective land manager. The DNR notification form 2500-118
and land manager information can be obtained at
(visit link) . More information
may be seen at the Wisconsin Geocaching Association rules for
hiding a cache.
