This is the bonus cache which is the final stage of a walk of
about 2 1/2 miles around countryside and farmland at Fernhurst.
There is one short muddy stretch (for no apparent reason!) but
easily passable with walking boots.
The above co-ordinates are for the information board by the
furnace. To find the bonus cache you will need to collect clues
from the three previous caches in the series - Green Curtain, Fuel
for the Fire and Wishing Well.
The cache is at N 51 02.ABC W 000 44.DEF
This cache is an ammo box with a selection of swaps, log book
and pencil. Please replace carefully, the 'camouflage' was
carefully chosen!
When you have found the cache, follow the footpath back to the
road, the turn right and walk along the road to the recommended
parking area. PLEASE BE CAREFUL, there is no footway. If you are
caching in the evening it would be a good idea to take a torch for
the walk back.
There is an annual open weekend at the Furnace. This year it is
10th/11th September and is well worth a visit! They have the Sealed
Knot shooting period weapons, a southdown sheep roast, guided
walks, charcoal burning, blacksmithing, various stalls etc - and it
is free! It will still be possible to do all the caches, but please
be subtle in the vicinity of muggles!!
