No. 5 of the circular trail around the Vehicle Test Track (VTT)
This one is to relieve the monotony of a walk along a busy road, which has no turning. But it has to be done to reach the footpath around the VTT boundary fence, which is much more interesting.
"Meanygate" is an old term for an access point on to Leyland Moss, when in days gone by some villagers had the right of "turbary", that is to cut peat for their own use. There isn't much peat left, but the land around here is still very fertile.
