No 6 of the circular trail around the Vehicle Test track (VTT). At last, you're on the footpath.
Before the VTT was built, definitive right of way No.6, Doll Lane, crossed the fields from here SW to meet Longmeanygate near its junction with Dunkirk Lane. When the test track was built, this footpath was diverted around the VTT boundary fence. But one resident on Longmeanygate, who didn't like the footpath behind his property, discovered a legal loophole. The Central Lancs Development Corporation had the right to extinguish rights of way, but they didn't in law have the right to create new ones. So the diverted footpath lost its status. This resident immediately fenced off the footpath and a long battle took place to get the path re-instated. In the end it took a Government Inquiry to sort it out and the path was confirmed in 2002. Two years later it was available for use, but nobody uses it! That's why this trail has been set - to increase the footfall along it! It may be quite overgrown at times, but not if enough geocachers accept this challenge.
