[ENG] Valnu Street 16, 18, 29, 22. There are remnants of the old fortifications, and these are architectural monuments of national importance. The defensive wall along Valnu Street used to run along a small river that was outside of the wall. At the place where Valnu street intersects with Udens Street, the so-called Suffering Tower was located. The building at Valnu Street 22 resembles the old tower - there are two gun apertures in its eastern wall. Over the course of time the remnants of the old stone wall have beem transformed into teraces and garden platforms. At Valnu Street 24, we can still see two round bastions from the defensive wall. Cannons used to stand here.
