Ist es weißes Rauschen, oder enthält das Signal eine Nachricht?
Is it white noise, or does the signal contain a message?

Unsere Techniker haben vor kurzem dieses Signal empfangen. Der Ursprung konnte nur auf eine Bogenminute genau lokalisiert werden, dann hörte die Übertragung auf. Da das Signal mehrmals wiederholt wurde, sind wir uns ziemlich sicher, dass es eine Nachricht enthalten muss, aber trotz aller Anstrengungen konnten wir den Inhalt nicht decodieren - es sieht immer wie weißes Rauschen aus.
Das Signal besteht aus 2 Blöcken zu je 85849(=293x293) Bits, die Techniker vermuten, dass es irgendwie zweidimensional strukturiert sein könnte und haben es deshalb grafisch dargestellt.
Die Entschlüsselung der Nachricht könnte uns einen entscheidenden Hinweis auf den Ursprung geben. Sie sind im Moment unsere größte Hoffnung!

Our technicians have received this signal some time ago. Due to the short duration of the signal they could only determine its origin to about one arc-minute. Since the signal was repeated a number of times, we are pretty certain that it contains some message, but despite our efforts we were not able to decode it - it always looks like white noise.
The signal consists of two blocks with 85849(=293x293) bits each, and the technicians assume that it has some two-dimensional structure and have represented it graphically.
Decoding the message could yield the ultimate hint about the signal's origin. You're our biggest hope towards achieving this goal!
