Geocache Description:

This cache will take you close to the site of the Dolphin Coast SPCA.

Besides its well known role as a protector of animal rights and a place of safety for strays, the SPCA fulfils many other roles. It has hospital facilities, clinics, mobile clinics, educates the public and even offers boarding.

Strays are held for 7 days before being put up for adoption, with the best option being that the animal is reclaimed by a frantic owner. However, many animals are not claimed and up to 300 dogs and cats are housed at any one time, being either stray, donated or seized by inspectorate.

Adoption fees are often considered steep, yet they include sterilisation, vaccination, deworming, dipping, a collar and an ID disc. Try getting all of that from your local vet for even twice the price!

The SPCA receives no government assistance and relies solely on private resources. Persons who wish to help can volunteer, make a donation, or join as a member. Donations of food are often accepted by the branches directly.

The access road should be accessible to most cars, but if you don't have good ground clearance, avoid this in wet weather.

This was lifted from Durbabe's cache description for her archived cache GC10904.

The opening times are: Monday-Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm, Saturdays and Public Holidays 8am -2pm.
