Geocache Description:

multicache

This cache is a multicache;both stages are on the school cairn site. Common sense will help you find the first part which will give you the co-ordinates for the final stage which is a small cammmoed container.
The Lilac School was built in1908 and classes started in April, 1909. The school was built for $1200 that was borrowed by the school board and a school tax of $3/ quarter section was levied. Beginning teacher salary was $55/month. Bethel church services were held in the school until 1915.The local unit of the Saskatchewan Grain Growers used the school as an entertainment centre. In the spring of 1927, the school was moved to the cairn site as a result of rearrangement of the school district boundaries. The school was not used at this site, as a larger more modern school was build. Classes were held in an abandoned farm house until the new school was opened in 1928. Trees were planted around the site; playgrounds and ball diamonds were built. In 1942, the village of Lilac received permission from the Department of Education to use the name Lilac, and the school was renamed Pleasant Plains School. although the locals still called it Lilac School. Declining enrolments closed the school in 1946. The building was sold and moved; the trees and shrubs remain. In 1991, a group of former students erected the school cairn and have maintained it.
The final cache contains a collection of school related and kid related swag. Please respect the property and replace the parts of the cache as you have found it.
