Geocache Description:

A lovely walk through Hertfordshire countryside- particularly recommended for dog walkers. Path crosses fields and is muddy in Winter.

This cache is named after our golden retriever, Poppy. She is taken along the route at least once a week and it is one of her favourite walks. The route follows a footpath across the open fields of an organic farm (look out for magnificent red kites, there are several in the area) with fine wide-open views of the Hertfordshire countryside. Once the cache has been found it is possible to carry on along the path and return to the start via a circular route (it would help if you had a map for this, as the last part is on quiet roads through the West Common area of Harpenden). Wear sensible footwear in the winter as the fields can be very muddy.

Cache is a smallish square sandwich box, big enough for all but the largest trackables, in addition to a log-book, pens etc. Coordinates above are for the first clue spot (a footpath sign). Cache coordinates are N51° 47.X2Y´, W000° 22.YZY, where X= the footpath number leading to Redbourn and the Nicky Line at the footpath sign, Y= the footpath number leading to the A1081 and Z= the number of directions in which the footpath sign points.
