Cache is hidden near an old water mill on the River Artro in picturesque Cwm Bychan
You can do plenty of industrial archæology here. This water mill dates from the 19th Century and would have been used to grind grain grown in Cwm Bychan.
Walk North from here along the Artro and you can find the remains of the dam, with mill pond behind it, and the mill race which led the water to the water wheel. Walk South and you can follow the tail race and find out where it rejoined the Artro.
When surveyed some years ago, The fall from one end to the other was found to be in the order of 16 feet (5m).
The wheel has long gone, but you can see the broken end of the timber axle (?) in the wall of the mill above the wheel pit.
If you are heading further up the valley afterwards- check out its best kept secret: the most amazing ECHO: stop when you get to Llyn Bychan and shout across the lake at the rock face opposite. Not a lot of people know that!
