This is a small cache (a little larger than the standard Altoids tin) placed about a block away from 924 Gilman Street in North Berkeley. The coordinates probably aren't perfect, but they'll get you close enough to find it with the hint.
This cache is placed in honor of the band AFI. The band formed in 1991, and put out their eighth album in September of last year. They originally formed in Ukiah, California, which is about two hours north of here, but have spent most of their career in Berkeley.
The cache is placed in the vicinity of 924 Gilman Street, which is an all-ages hardcore club in North Berkeley. Many prominent Bay Area punk bands, including AFI, played some of their first shows at this venue and the venue is still open today. Some have called Gilman the West Coast's answer to CBGB.
The cache is not placed inside 924 Gilman and you don't have to do anything special to get to it, but I do have one favor to ask of those who go after this one. While everyone is more than welcome to find this one and sign the log book, it is intended as an AFI-themed cache. As such, if you take an AFI thing out, I'd appreciate it if you put another AFI thing in (or, failing that, something related to a band in a similar vein. Punk, Hardcore, Gothic/Industrial, '80s pop, etc.).
