Geocache Description:

One of a number of School Day Challenge puzzle caches each dedicated to a school subject, with a couple of associated extras and extra curricula activities thrown in for fun.

We decided to make up an entire series of puzzle caches, hoping itwould prove more challenging for one cacher to achieve all FTF's.

All caches are on footpaths arround the Bentley area. Livestock and electric fences may be encountered, usual rules apply.

The location given is not that of the cache, but within a mile of GZ.

Subjects are not stated - but can hopefully be worked out.

Radio waves are electromagnetic waves occurring on the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.

At the location of the cache the aerials of the Droitwich Transmitting Station can be seen.

The Droitwich transmitting station is a large broadcasting facility for longwave and mediumwave transmissions, established in 1934 in the civil parish of Dodderhill, just outside the village of Wychbold, which is near Droitwich, Worcestershire, England.

This transmission site is the location of the British Broadcasting Corporation's most powerful longwave transmitter, which together with the two Scottish longwave transmitters at Burghead and Westerglen forms part of a network broadcasting on the same frequency.

At night, the two sets of aircraft warning lights are visible from a long distance.

In the early days of radio engineering, radio frequency energy was generated using arcs known as Alexanderson alternator or mechanical alternators. In the 1920s electronic transmitters, based on vacuum tubes, began to be used.

Vacuum tubes were critical to the development of electronic technology. Things evolved quickly - transistors replaced valves and circuits became smaller (and cooler).

Integrated circuits are used in almost all electronic equipment in use today and have revolutionized the world of electronics.
