Breaking the Code Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

JT678: Well, we've tried looking for this one several times, but it just seems to be gone. I'm not sure that we'll ever be able to find it. =[ If we do, we will definitely rehide (somewhere else!) so it can be enjoyed again...

Geocache Description:

This is a 5 stage multi cache. For the shortest route, start with the above coordinates and do the stages in the order given. It will do no good to do the last stage of the cache 1st because the cache container is locked and you will need to visit the other locations to figure out the combination of the lock. In the final stage of the cache, you will be looking for a green ammo can in a water resistant bag.

2nd stage coordinates... N 38 51.261 W 097 36.758
3rd stage coordinates... N 38 51.283 W 097 36.396
4th stage coordinates... N 38 50.768 W 097 36.297
Final stage coordinates... N 38 50.781 W 097 36.105

Instructions For the Lock Combination:
In the first 4 stages of this multi, find the park signs and convert the instructed letter to a whole number.
ABCDEFGHI etc. etc.
123456789 etc. etc.
example: A=1 B=2...Z=26

Stage one: Convert the 4th letter of the first word in the park name to a whole number, then divide by 3 and subtract 1 for the 2nd digit of the combination lock.

Stage two: Convert the 4th letter of the 2nd word in the park name to a whole number then subtract 3 for the 4th digit of the combination lock.

Stage three: Convert the 5th letter of the first word in the park name to a whole number then divide by 2 and add 2 for the 1st digit of the combination lock.

Stage four: Convert the 2nd letter of the 4th word in the park name to a whole number then divide by 5 and subtract 1 for the 3rd digit of the combination lock.

When you get to the final location, set the 4 digit number on the combination lock and pull firmly to open the cache. It will contain a log book and the usual items for trade. When finished, please relock and reinstall the bag around the cache to protect the lock from the elements. The lock needs to have the original combination lined up to be able to close. Please mix the numbers up before you return it. Approximate distance to complete this cache is about 2.5 miles, in case you decide to take a walk.

Happy caching!
