Geocache Description:

Your looking for a small kool-aide container...Permission from Pastor Fightmaster to place cache. His wife knows about it too..

One can only imagine that the surroundings were much different when Zion United Methodist Church got its start. It was around 1807, and George and Rosalia Fagaly had relocated to the area from Baltimore. There, they’d converted to the United Brethren faith, and they wanted to share it with their new neighbors. Meetings began at their home, and later in a log cabin built on the property, which was located on what is now Wesselman Road. The Zion United Brethren Church was born.

Its first actual church was built on Zion Road in 1820, but that building burnt to the ground in 1876. A new church, built in 1877, was destroyed by a cyclone in 1913. Although the congregation was invited to merge with the North Bend, its 93 or so members declined and instead built another new church.

Zion was renamed Evangelical United Brethren in 1946 and, after merging with the Methodists in 1968, it took on its current name of Zion United Methodist Church.

The present church building, located at 4980 Zion Road in Cleves, was built in 1961 to accommodate the growing congregation. Today, the church has between 200 to 230 members...
