This will be much more
difficult at night then in the day.
Cryptex (or Cryptic)
message tubes are a symbol of mystery and intrigue. It is a message
receptacle that can only be opened by the receiver using a secret
code only known to the sender and them.
I thought it would be
fun to incorporate one into a Geocache.
This cryptex has 6
rings. On each ring are the letters A-Z and also the numbers 0-9.
That is 36 positions on each ring. This gives the cryptex over
2.175 Billion possible codes to open it. YES!!! 2.175 Billion with
a “B”!
Thats more than
2,175,000,000!!!
I have placed the
cryptex in a ammo can. Once you find the ammo can you will need to
use the answer to the riddle I have created below, to open the
cryptex. Once the cryptex is open you can access the log. You will
only get to log your find if you open the cryptex and sign the
log.
As Spl1nt3rc3ll once
said…. “Let it be known that I could have made this
evil”. I could have made the riddle many times harder, but I
decided to make it more fun then hard.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!! PLEASE
READ BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BE PATIENT WHEN YOU ARE
TRYING TO OPEN THE CRYPTEX!!!!!
DO NOT GET DIRT OR OTHER
CRUD STUCK INSIDE.
Turn the wheels until
the six letters (the answer to the riddle) appear centrally in line
with the two ALIGNMENT MARKS on the inside sloping surfaces
adjacent to the letters.
You will find it MUCH
EASIER to rest the crypyex on a solid flat surface, like the side
of the ammo can with these two marks facing upward.
There is no room for
error. The letters must be in line exactly. If the cryptex remains
locked try one more thing. GENTLY wiggle the end pieces back and
forth then pull them apart.
There is NO NEED TO
FORCE THE CRYPTEX OPEN….. if the correct code is used it
will open without any problem.
Make sure that you
don’t mistake the letter O for the #0 or the letter i for the
#1. It is easy to do.
Good luck solving the
riddle!!!!
I am the object of
every cachers desire.
To post me, a find is all
one will usually require.
The
more of me you have the greater you are admired.
Finding a cache is
how I am acquired.
Yellow is my usual
complexion.
I can also be used to show
affection.
What am I ?
_ _ _ _ _ _
Answer must be six
characters long.
I have been informed by
two diffrent Geocachers that this word can be spelled two different
ways. Please use the preferred way. I have looked it up in the
dictionary and only one shows up. I am using that
one.
