While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Cachen ligger ved tursti og bør være overkommelig å finne. Fra denne plassen har du fin utsikt over Småvannet (vest) og Storavatnet (øst).

This cache is placed near the trail and should be possible to find with out too much work. From this spot you will find a beautiful view over Småvatnet (lake on the left side) and Storavatnet (lake on the right side).

Alvøskogen, Små- og Storavatnet
Alvøskogen er en del av idylliske Alvøen med sin lange industrihistorie innen krutt- og papirproduksjon. Små- og Storavatnet har fungert som en viktig vann- og kraftressurs gjennom tidene og er fortsatt i bruk som vannkilde til fabrikken i Alvøen og smoltanlegget der.

Om man ønsker kan man ta rundturen rundt Småvatnet og oppleve flott og variert natur med rester av tidligere gårdsbruk og møller. Turen rundt vannet tar ca. 1-2 timer på skogsveier og stier (det kan stedvis være vått og noe myrlendt).

Start gjerne turen fra Alvøen idrettspark og følg vei forbi idrettsanlegget. Ta til høyre der veien deler seg ved leskuret og fortsett videre inn til Småvatnet. Følg deretter sti langs bekk opp til Storavatnet og videre til grusvei ved Vassenden. Følg denne langs Småvatnet og hold høyre der veien deler seg. Ved Fasmergravene følges bilveien til tilbake til utgangspunktet for turen.

Alvøen forest, Småvatnet and Storavatnet
Alvøen forest is a part of charming Alvøen. The two lakes Småvatnet and Storevatnet has been an important water supply for the historical gunpowder and paper industry here. To day, these lakes are still serving as water supply for the indoor salmon fish farm located in the old factory buildings.

It is possible to walk around the lakes and explore the beautiful nature. You will find remnants of milling plants and farms, typical Norwegian west coast nature and nice viewing points over the area. The trip around the water takes between 1 and 2 hour. Parts of the trip may be wet, so be sure to wear proper clothing.

Recommended starting point is at the sports ground in Alvøen. Follow the gravel road past the football grounds into the forest. Keep right when the road splits. Follow the road to the lake (Småvatnet) and continue at the track along the stream to the next lake (Storavatnet). The main track continues to Vassenden where you can follow a gravel road along the lake to the district road that leads you back to the starting point.
